Rethinking the layout of the Renaud Centre with an eye to creating a living environment that caters to the needs of the youth and employees who use it daily.
We conducted observations of activities taking place at the Centre to understand how the space was being used and any challenges that came with it. We then conducted focus groups with staff to gather their needs and ideas. Finally, we held two co-design workshops with young people, the main users of the space, to understand their needs and allow them to express their desires.

Through the research phase, we were able to define five guiding principles that helped shape the vision for the project. This also allowed us to identify ten main functions that the space should offer. Working with Pivot Architecture, we positioned the functions within the space to create two preliminary design proposals, each offering a distinct experience.

We presented the guiding principles and two preliminary design concepts during a validation workshop with the Centre staff. After giving us their critiques of the guiding principles and concepts, each team was able to create their ideal concept with the help of a designer-facilitator. This allowed them to consider the challenges of the space and to set their priorities that would guide us in making the best decisions for next steps.

We drafted specifications defining the design criteria for each space. We also held several working sessions with Pivot Architecture to create a final design that met all the criteria, and addressed the building's architectural challenges. We presented the final design and provided the client with a comprehensive and inspiring document, allowing them to begin their applications for funding.
