Health services: improving access to in-home care services

Client: CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l'Île-de-Montréal - 2024

En collaboration avec: Pôle de l’innovation et du numérique du CIUSSS Centre-Sud-de-l’île-de-Montréal

Mandat

Carry out a discovery phase for the ''SAD (in-home care) of Tomorrow'' innovation lab organized by the CCSMTL Innovation & Digital Hub.

Deliverable

  • User profiles
  • Research and discovery report
  • Service improvement recommendations

Field observations

In order to truly immerse ourselves in the context of the project, we spent several days accompanying and observing in-home care providers (ex. nurses, occupational therapists, HSSAs, social workers). This allowed us to understand their day-to-day and see how services are orchestrated.

User interviews and discussion groups

We surveyed the needs and challenges of people making use of the in-home care services through a series of interviews in day centers. We delved into the various needs and challenges of the in-home care teams in discussion groups with teams from two different CLSCs. Finally, we completed targeted interviews with additional staff and managers to dig deeper into some of the issues that surfaced.

From insights to opportunities

Following a deep analysis, we were able to create user profiles and develop recommendations for possible improvements related to supply management, team organisation, work tools and the relationship with service users within the health ecosystem. We developed human-centered design tools with the internal innovation team to implement our recommendations for subsequent phases of the lab.

For a better world, one project at a time.
